TRIATHLON: The Robert J. Aaron Memorial Mighty Montauk Triathlon

$125 – $150Founded in 1982 by the late Robert J. Aaron, the Montauk Triathlon Finish at the Triangle of Star Island Road and West Lake Drive. Long considered the east end season opener would be celebrating its 41st anniversary this year. The race consists of a 1 mile swim, 20 mile bike and 6.2 miles run. The course must be completed in 3 hours 55 minutes.
SWIM – The distance is 1 mile in the calm salt water of Lake Montauk. The course is out and back. Since this race is in the spring, wet suits are recommended (water temperature is normally around 55 degrees Fahrenheit).
BIKE – The distance is 20 miles taking you along Montauk historical routes; giving you a bird’s eye view of the famous Montauk Lighthouse. The course is out and back with some hills. Hardshell helmets (ANSE approved) and bar end plugs are mandatory. This race adheres to USAT policy of NO DRAFTING.
RUN – The distance is 6.2 miles through the scenic side of Montauk challenging hills . NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES ON THE COURSE (ex: iPods, MP3 players etc). No water stops on the bike course. However, water stops are at one mile intervals on the run course.
