Affluent friends including Claudia (Monica Viti), her unhappy best friend, Anna, and the latter’s fiancé, Sandro, set off on a cruise to Sicily. When the group explores a barren volcanic island, Anna vanishes. As they search for Anna, an ambivalent connection forms between Sandro and Claudia.
