Fort Pond, a large freshwater lake, spans a distance from the village north to Fort Pond Bay, which is a large bay on the Long Island Sound side of Montauk. Several hotels and restaurants rim the lake and also the bay, and the Montauk Manor sits on a high hill overlooking it all.
