Camping

If you are interested in camping in Montauk, there are two options.

HITHER HILLS STATE PARK

Hither Hills is a New York State Park located right on the ocean. The 153 site campground for tents, motor homes, pop-ups and trailers is very popular during the summer season. The park offers scenic picnic areas and fireplaces, sport fishing, a sandy ocean beach, playing fields, a playground, and acres of wooded lands and dunes with trails to hike. Campsites must be reserved in advance, and there are time limitations during the summer season. For more information, or to reserve a site, go tonewyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/ Open through November 21.

MONTAUK COUNTY PARK
Suffolk County is responsible for camping at this park. Outer beach camping for self contained campers (NO TENTS) on the Block Island Sound side of Montauk is also very popular. Along with camping, you can hike the miles of trails in this park, bike, canoe, fish, swim, kayak, and enjoy other types of sports. A Green Key Card must be purchased from the county before you can camp at the park. For more information go here.
