LIVE MUSIC: Drums of Noto Hanto at the Montauk Library

The music program features classical and contemporary works by Bach, Schubert, Cimarosa, Glass and Bryars exploring the combination between old and new music as a continuous flux of new sounds and ancient resonances. Traditional musical forms and new music directions are confronted to direct emotional expression for a new relationship between musical sounds and the audience. Paolo Bartolani is a pianist, musicologist and music manager, working in both classical and contemporary music. He graduated in 1989 from the Santa Cecilia Music Taiko Drums of Japan – With performances drawn from the rich folk heritage of Japan, Ryu Shu Taiko introduces audiences to the traditional Japanese “Matsuri” (Festival) experience. In the family friendly inter-active story, The Drums of Noto Hanto” children from the audience participate in telling the story of how Japanese villagers scared away invading Samurai by donning “demon” masks, and playing the Taiko drums.
