Saturday, July 18 @ 5:30 am - 9:00 am$25 – $55
We are celebrating the 13th Annual Montauk Ocean Swim Challenge on July 18, 2020. The event offers a rare opportunity to swim in an open water ocean race on the beautiful East End of Long Island. Organized by the East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue Squad, the MOSC benefits the Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation in its efforts to build a Cultural Arts and Aquatic Center. The MOSC offers three distance categories for swimmers of all ages and abilities. The race moves along Montauk’s scenic coastline and concludes at the world-famous Ditch Plains Beach. Over 200 participants and supporters enjoy a post-swim breakfast. Your support of the MOSC ensures that Montauk’s residents and visitors will learn the importance of water safety and fitness in the Playhouse’s forthcoming Aquatic Center. Course Information: The race course is in the ocean beyond the break, swimming parallel to the shore line. The 5K will be a loop from Ditch Plains Beach to Nick’s Beach and back. The 1 and ½ mile races will be straight courses. The one mile will start near Terrace Beach, the ½ mile will start west of Ditch Plains Beach (in front of the cliffs – also known as Poles beach). All races end at Ditch Plains Beach. Swim course will be clearly marked with buoys. *Race Director may modify course if dangerous conditions arise.
