sunset cruise
Take a cruise out of beautiful Montauk Harbor. Several boats offer cruises to the lighthouse or to Fort Pond Bay to see the glorious Montauk sunset. The Miss Montauk (668-1545), and the Soaker (646-879-7964) offer sunset cruises.

Sailing
Lake Montauk makes pleasant sailing for day sailors. Dinghies and larger boats will enjoy the offshore waters. Sail Montauk offers sailing lessons, charters and bareboat rentals, call 522-5183 or go to sailmontauk.com. You can rent a sailboat at Puff & Putt in the Village for a smooth sail over Fort Pond.

block island
Just 12 miles east of Montauk Point and accessible by high-speed ferry from Montauk Harbor on the Viking Fleet (668-5700) from May through October. Regular daily service June 18–October 12 at 10am, return at 5pm. Offering an additional trip Fridays–Mondays in July and August, at 3:30 pm, and an additional return on these days at 11:30am. The ferry docks at Champlin's Marina on Block, a full-service marina in New Harbor where you will find bicycle and car rentals, and guided tours through the taxi services. Similar to Montauk in landscape and casual atmosphere, Block Island has many shops and restaurants. Rent a bicycle or moped, or bring a bike with you on the ferry. Very beautiful farms and stone fences and high bluffs front the Atlantic Ocean
